The desk itself is OK. It was not easy to assemble and needed extra pilot holes drilled into the desktops. You will need two people to assemble it, no question. The other drawback is that the top of the desktop shows Every. Single. Fingerprint and Smudge. The top constantly looks dirty and smudged no matter how many times you wipe it off, and not everything will get it clean.
The major drawback to this purchase is that the desk is shipped in three separate boxes - 2 that have the desk frame components, and 1 large one containing the desktops. In the first round of shipping, I was sent two identical boxes of desk components, and the desktops were SMASHED - you could see particle board in many places. Stand Steady sent out a new box of the components I was missing, and then sent a new set of desktops. When I asked them what I was supposed to do with an extra box of components and a smashed set of desktops, they told me to dispose of them. Really? Am I supposed to hire movers to move a set of desktops out of my workplace that is on the 4th floor? I suppose I could have asked my colleagues to help me drag them to the dumpster, but that just seems incredibly wasteful that they didn't provide return shipping labels and have a recycling/surplus parts program in place for these kinds of instances. It's pretty shameful and wasteful, and it bothered me so much that when I asked if my department could BUY the extra box that we were missing to be able to assemble another desk out of it so it wouldn't end up in a landfill, I was told that they don't sell parts to their desks and that was it. Stand Steady should be ashamed at how they are trashing the environment with their waste.
