Our glass fused to fused sheets are guaranteed to a 100% zero discontinuity policy which means only defect free sheets are released to the marketplace. We offer a complete range of glass fused to steel coatings to satisfy a complete range of storage applications. Applied to both interior and exterior surfaces, glass fused to steel can provide many years of trouble-free service in the harshest environments. TRIFUSION® is designed to produce an extremely strong chemical bond to the steel during the fusion process. This places the glass in compression and it remains in compression even when the steel bends and flexes. Our glass fused to steel coatings are designed to deliver strength and durability while the steel is in tension due to the contents load. Glass fused to steel coatings are both chemically fused to and physically combined with the steel substrate resulting in an unmatched, tough durable bond. TRIFUSION® has rightfully become the standard by which all other finishes are assessed. This proven high quality contact surface finish sets the benchmark for use in the more demanding areas of industrial effluent treatment and sludge digestion. An additional protective layer, together with zero discontinuity on every panel finish is tested at an exacting Volts, provides exceptional security and continuous protection. Glass is impermeable to liquids and vapors; it eliminates corrosion undercutting and offers excellent impact and abrasion resistance.

Our PERMASTORE® tanks use a unique glass fused to steel coating process to produce an environmentally inert finish that has wide chemical resistance. Permastore tanks are manufactured under European Union (EN) and American Water Works Association (AWWA) Standard conforming steel plates. Manufactured to individual sizes, the plates are grit blasted to create a roughened imperfection free surface. They are chemically washed, and rust inhibited prior to the application of a chemical pre-coat to enhance glass to steel adhesion. Coated in silica glass the plates are fired to produce a mechanical and chemical bond between glass and steel. The result is a tank with enhanced quality levels and continuity of coating across all contact areas. Tank plates are sealed together using a lap joint configuration with a sealant that has excellent adhesion, flexibility and chemical resistance. Standard tank external colors are dark green and dark blue. Other colors are available on request. We have expertise in the supply of low-cost corrosion-free liquid storage tanks. ISOFUSION® tanks establishes a lower cost solution delivering security and protection through Permastores 100% inspection, high voltage (700 volts) zero discontinuity coating specification which is defect free at test voltage.

VITRIUM is our proprietary titanium Dioxide (TiO2) glassing process applied in a 3-coat, 1-fire (3c1f) process procedure. VITRIUM coating is also produced in a 3-coat, 2-fire (3c2f) process primarily when special colors are requested or thicker layers of glass are required.
The CST proprietary VITRIUM glass-fused-to-steel process provides:
The combination of glass quality and glass thickness provide the assurance that over 69 years of experience and over 100,000 structures successfully installed around the world will continue with each and every new structure installed.
Titanium Dioxide (TiO2)
In CST, formerly Engineered Storage Products, launched an R&D project to develop a process for the direct application of our proprietary Titanium Dioxide (TiO2) Glass. The result is a totally new, patented 3-coat, 1-fire (3c1f) process for applying TiO2 Glass.
TiO2 is a very common ingredient used by many coating manufacturers for various reasons:
As a result of using higher amounts of TiO2 in the final white layer, a unique visual marker on the glass known as VITRIUM threading becomes apparent. This is caused by thicker areas of the top white layer interspersed with thinner areas allowing the underlying bluecoat to show through opaquely. This immediately identifies the coating as VITRIUM.

History of Glass-Fused-To-Steel
CST (formerly A.O. Smith) first discovered the methodology of controlling corrosion by fusing glass to steel in the s. The technology was initially used in the brewing and hot water heater industries. While other uses for glass-fused-to-steel were explored, the first glass-fused-to-steel tank went into service in as a HARVESTORE silo. This agricultural use to store feed while retaining quality has been widely used for almost 69 years.
In the s, our Municipal and Industrial Division was formed and we subsequently launched AQUASTORE tanks for water, wastewater and other industrial liquid uses. Since , more than 100,000 AQUASTORE, HARVESTORE, SLURRYSTORE and NUSTRISTORE glass-fused-to-steel tanks have been installed in over 70 countries around the world.
